Review by Frank Lindemann

After watching Dylan in Hamburg, Lingen and Cologne, this concert was
again really strong at least in many parts. There were some quite bizzare
moments of course, like Dylan forgetting most of the words from a simple
song like To Be Alone With You or trying to sing and play the piano and
the other keyboard to his left at the same time. But OK, that's Bob Dylan,
so what. But overall there was so much beautiful and strong singing and
playing which made me really love that show. To name a few highlights:
Black Rider and My Own Version Of You were absolutely outstanding again if
not as good as in Hamburg and Lingen I would say. Every Grain Of Sand had
some tasteful slide guitar playing from Bob Britt which was new to me and
quite wonderful. Desolation Row reminded me a little bit of the 2003
versions (that year I attended both Amsterdam concerts at the same venue
and he did Desolation Row there too) because of Dylan's expressive vocals
and It's All Over Now, Baby Blue was just heartbreaking and even better
than in Cologne. Some other high points were When I Paint My Masterpiece
with Bob playing guitar and a harp solo or the intense versions of I Made
Up My Mind...and Mother Of Muses still sounding fresh and alive. I still
consider Rough and Rowdy Ways as a real masterpiece which still deserves
to be the core of the Dylan show. And he never stopps working on this
tunes like a stonemason or a sculptor. And luckily, I had a perfect good
view on Dylan from my seat in Row 8, slightly on the right side of his
piano. A really strong and enjoyable concert and hopefully not the last
time seeing this great artist. Thank you Mr. Bob!
