Review by David Mendick
This is the second time I've seen Lucinda Williams since her stroke. She
needs lots of assistance getting to her mic at center stage. Playing
guitar a distant memory. Felt sad. And then she started singing. Her voice
stronger than ever. She's a treasure and a true inspiration. Wolf Trap
might be the best venue in America. Dylan clearly loves playing there. He
almost always does two nights to what is usually an appreciative audience.
Last night hundreds of people started leaving mid way and after Rubicon
the true diehard fans remained. An amazing show. His voice perfect. The
new guitarists make a great band even better. I Shall be Released was the
close. I think it might be the last time I see Dylan although I've been
saying that for at least 10 years. And I might get on the transatlantic
bus in the winter. The haunting harp solo at the end then Dylan stood with
his back to the audience for what seemed like an eternity. Then he face
the audience for longer than usual. A national treasure. Again so grateful
to Bob Links for all these years.
