I left work at Kennedy Space Center on the east coast of Florida at 11:00 and drove to Gainesville,
Florida, a three-hour drive, to pick up my son who is attending college at the University of Florida.
We then proceeded to drive an additional four hours to Dothan Alabama and arrived about an hour
before the concert started. We had 3rd row seats and an amazing view of the stage. The people
around us were very friendly and introduced themselves. Alabama folks are very kind and cognitive
of proper concert behavior. No one arrived late and there wasn't any idle conversation during the
show, and everyone stayed seated during the concert only to stand and clap between songs. I've
never attended a concert where there wasn't someone coming in late or talking loudly to their
neighbor during the show, but this was different. Everyone was tuned in and attentive and seemed
to know that this wasn't a "greatest hits" show. The show was incredible; you could hear and
understand nearly every word. There was a slight difference between the "sitting" microphone and
the "standing" microphone; Bob's word were a bit clearer when sitting. He did change the words
to songs; the one I remember was When I Paint My Masterpiece. He changed the lines "Got to
hurry on back to my hotel room / Where I got me a date with a pretty little girl from Greece" to
something like "Got to hurry on back to my hotel room / Where I need to wash my clothes" which
I found quite humorous. As the show finished with Every Grain of Sand and Bob on the harp, he
came to the front of the stage, looked at the crowd, said "thank you" and clapped his hands along
with all of us. To sum it all up, excellent show and well worth the 850-mile round trip. I hope he
extends the tour and visits Central Florida later the year.
